Apedroc is set in the heart of rural Sussex, in an area of outstanding natural beauty, within the conservation area that includes the Ashdown Forest. The property is set in over 100 acres of paddocks and ancient woodland, and has been farmed since before the Norman conquest, with careful husbandry of the land. Building and commercial activity in the area are tightly controlled to retain the character and tranquillity of the setting. This makes it an ideal location for the small-scale elite stud farm that is Apedroc.
Apedroc breeds a small number of elite thoroughbred race horses each year, retrains race horses for polo and hunting, and breeds rheas, wallabies and peacocks for sale.
Our estate manager, an Argentinian with a background in rodeo riding, is an experienced high goal polo manager and an experienced horse breeder.
We currently have three premium quality brood mares at stud:
Outback Princess foaled 21st January 2013 by Aussie Rules out of Royal Assent (Royal Applause);
Alaykha foaled 1st January 2014 by Sinndar out of Red Ransom;
Grand Myla foaled 16th April 2014 by Dark Angel out of Selfara (Oasis Dream).
