Apedroc Stud welcomes 85 guests as part of National Racehorse Week

Dismal weather could not dim the enthusiasm of our 85 guests at Apedroc Stud's second Open Day on August 29th.

Jimmy (Baaeed x Waldnah) and Paddy (Zarak x Maid of Spirit) were on their best behaviour despite being much patted and admired by a huge crowd.  There were two winners of our guess-the-weight -of-the -foal competition, but sadly no takers for the inaugural Apedroc Space Hopper Grand National, so a home team voctory was declared.  Bloodstock agent, Arthur Dobell, of Oliver St Laurence Bloodstock, fascinated the audience with tales of thoroughbred ancestry and they remained remarkably attentive for the details of foaling and the gruesome details of worm control.  Paddock management completed the visit with a lively formation display from our sinister Hebridean rams, before tea was served and donations extracted for the Injured Jockeys Fund.

VIP guest, Brant Dunshea, CEO of the British Horseracing Association, joined the throng with his young sons and was impressed with the trip visit.
